The following specific rules provide more detailed guidance on acceptable and unacceptable behavior in Cal Ripken’s Real Baseball Leagues:
Team Registration Requirements:
Each Team may have a maximum of 12 players and a minimum of 5 players to register for any leagues.
Minimum Player Game Day Requirements:
Each team must have a minimum of 3 players (5 maximum) per team. Any number of players less than three, before the game starts, constitutes a forfeit in League Play.
NOTE: Teams that drop down to TWO players during a contest will wait until their next at-bat to substitute that respective player back into the game. If the third player is not brought into the game by this rule, that game will be ruled a forfeit.
Player Level Limits:
Players that exceed the level limits for a specific league will no longer be allowed to participate in the league. The player may be removed from the roster until the league is completed. Players that exceed the level limit and are caught participating in the league may be subject to suspension.
Team Level Limits:
Teams that exceed the level limits for a specific league will have their highest leveled player removed from the roster to keep them under the level limit.
Time Outs:
Each team will receive two timeouts in order to substitute a player(s) in the game. The game must resume within two minutes after the timeout has been announced. If a GM is in the game to resolve an issue, game play must continue immediately after the GM continues the game.
GM Time Outs:
GM’s may call an unlimited amount of time outs.
Connectivity:
If the game fails to initialize due to a specific player or team, players must wait in the Tournament Channel until a GM recreates the game in the respective Tournament Clubhouse. If the game fails to start due to a player (or players) on a specific team, they will be forced to forfeit.
Player Lag Outs:
If a player is removed from the game or dropped two times due to connectivity issues, they cannot rejoin the game. If other players are removed from the game due to a player lagging out, they are allowed to return without being penalized.
Dropped Player Re-Entry:
Players dropped from the game due to technical issues in the game are allowed to return when their team is on OFFENSE. Managers must make it clear the players are returning to the game before the other team pitches. Please NOTE: After the FIRST COMPLETED INNING, any instance of a pitcher leaving the game for ANY reason, may not re-enter the game as a pitcher.
Exception: If the game crashes, all players will return to their exact positions before the crash.
Team Chat:
All players must keep whispering to a minimum. Excessive whispering constitutes game disruption and that player or team will be subject to forfeiture or league suspension.
Bypassing the Chat Filter:
When a player (or players) bypass the chat filter with the intent to display any form of profanities or harassment, they may be subject to suspension.
Substitutions:
A Team Manager must whisper the opposing team manager to complete a substitution. The player that is replaced cannot re-enter the game at any point. Players must be substituted on OFFENSE. The manager must make it clear the player will join to be subbed in. Managers and co-managers are responsible for all substitutions.
Duplicate Characters on a Roster:
Players can only add one of their characters to a team roster. If there are multiple characters from the same account they will be removed from the League. Teams found participating with duplicate characters on the same roster will result in forfeits.
Ball Control in Timeouts:
During a timeout the pitcher must hold the ball and stand still. If any players are running around with the ball, they will be warned only one time. If the player(s) continue, the team will be forced to forfeit.
Team Managers:
The team manager is responsible for having an assistant manager (or co-captain) who must notify a GM in the event the team’s manager is not present. The assistant can act as the manager when the manager is absent.
Quitting:
In the event a player exits the game to avoid stat or EP penalties, the player will be suspended.
Stealing:
Stealing a base is ONLY permitted in the following scenarios: 1.) When there is a full count (3 balls and 2 strikes), with two outs in the inning and a force situation (meaning 1st, 1st and 2nd, or bases loaded). 2.) A teammate has initiated a Sacrifice Bunt. Additionally, initiating an AI catcher throw (often referred to as “baiting” in the community) behind the runner (the base where he/she originated from) is no excuse for being forced to advance. Failure to adhere to this stealing policy can result in being kicked off the field before game play can resume. 3.) A pickoff is attempted by the defensive team. Pickoffs include throws from the pitcher to a base, or a throw from the catcher to a particular base.
**NOTE: Players may advance ONE or more bases after an attempted pickoff and/or errors after the play**
Sacrifice Bunts:
Sacrifice bunting is currently allowed in the following scenarios: 1.)If a team chooses to sacrifice bunt, runners on base/s may ONLY advance one (1) base despite the outcome of the play. At no time may a team sacrifice bunt a teammate to home plate (squeeze bunt). The player who bunts must be forced out at first base during a sacrifice bunt in exchange for allowing runners to take a running lead. **Runners on base may run early on sacrifice bunts** 2.)If a defensive player attempts to throw out one of the advancing runners rather than the batter, the bunter will no longer be required to be forced out. The outcome of the play on the bases will stand.
Failed Bunts:
If a batter fails to lay down a bunt, runners MAY NOT take the extra base. They must return to the base where they originated. If the runner advances safely to avoid being tagged out, he/she must be given the ability to return to the originating base before the sequence resets. If the sequence resets before the runner can return, he/she should wait to advance additional bases depending on the next hit/s in the game.
In The Park Home Runs:
In the park home runs are illegal in League Play. Runners must stop running once they have reached third base.
10-Run Rule.
The 10-Run rule (a team ahead of their opponent by ten runs or more) does not apply in Real Baseball League play.
Human Catcher:
Human catchers are not allowed in League Play.
False Information:
Player(s) who submit any false information concerning the results of a game or lie to affect the outcome of a game will be subject to suspension.
Third Party Applications:
The running of any third party applications (TPAs) to intentionally or otherwise enhance player performance in Cal Ripken's Real Baseball is not allowed. At the sole discretion of Netamin, any player found to be running a TPA for this purpose is subject to disciplinary action up to and including account suspension and/or termination.
